JEFFREY M. SANDMAN
Senior Counselor

Based in Washington, DC, Jeffrey Sandman is Senior Counselor to The PR Consulting Group and CEO of Hyde Park Communications, PRCG’s partner firm in Washington, DC. Before founding Hyde Park Communications, he was Managing Partner of Nelson Public Relations, one of the leading healthcare public relations firms in the country.

Mr. Sandman, an attorney, has represented Fortune 500 companies and private firms in the pharmaceutical, health care, financial, and plastics industries. He also counseled major law firms, foundations, associations, unions and nonprofit organizations on a variety of issues, positioning programs, marketing campaigns, crisis communications, and special situations. He also has considerable experience in litigation communications.

At Nelson Public Relations, he advised Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Hoffman LaRoche on strategic communications and marketing programs on a variety of products and initiatives. In late 1998, Mr. Sandman also helped direct efforts for the release of the Institute of Medicine’s report on medical errors, To Err Is Human – the most covered health story of the year.

He also developed and implemented branding and positioning programs for Community Health Charities, the largest health federation in the country, the International Bottled Water Association, the Pfizer Foundation and the Soros Foundation.

Previously, Mr. Sandman was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of The Kamber Group, then one of the largest independent public relations companies. At Kamber, his noteworthy assignments included directing programs pertaining to a multi-billion dollar product liability suit, strategic counsel relating to governmental and criminal investigations, marketing new products, positioning programs and crisis management. His clients included American Home Products, Bristol Myers Squibb, Drexel Burnham Lambert, Linpac Plastics, Huntsman Chemicals, the Polystyrene Packaging Counsel, and the United Food and Commercial Workers. He has worked with many other trade unions.

Mr. Sandman also practiced intellectual property law and litigation at the Los Angeles firm of Loeb &Loeb and at Baker & Hostetler in Washington, DC. Earlier in his career he was on the issues staff of Senator Edward Kennedy’s presidential campaign. Mr. Sandman’s articles on public policy issues and politics have appeared in numerous publications.

He holds a B.A. magna cum laude in political science from Queens College, an M.P.A. with honors from the Wagner School at New York University, and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a senior editor of Law and Policy in International Business.
